The IAIM is dedicated to using infant massage to transform communities and Alison Young, Interim Neonatal Deputy Manager & CIMI tells us about her ambitious goals, the IAIM Programme and how they came to fruition.
For the first time in Wrexham, Wales a group of NICU practitioners trained with the sole purpose of providing the IAIM classes to new families once their baby had been discharged from the NICU. Crucially, these classes are facilitated by the very same individuals who cared for these families during their NICU stay, ensuring continuity of care and support.

Alison’s vision was to offer the 5 week IAIM for families once the baby had been discharged from the NICU.
NeoMates is a national service that provides peer support group for parents, giving them that ongoing support and guidance that they need. This group allows parents who are going through the same challenges to help support each other.
NeoMates creates a support network for parents, to link with health care professionals, clinical staff, and other parents who are on the same journey. Through weekly meetings, parents can ask questions, gain knowledge, skills, as well as share their own experiences, challenges, and success on their child’s journey.
